Regular game:

Wild Walker is Pragmatic Play’s take on the theme of the zombie apocalypse. It is played on 25 pay lines set on 5 reels, but that is expandable up to 8 in the bonus game. Graphics and sounds are excellent, while declared default RTP is declared at 96,55% which is not bad at all. The top award is 4,900 times the bet which is not extremely high for what is perceived as a highly volatile slot. I guess there must be a good number of possibilities for a mid-high win, around 2 or 3,000 times the bet as the regular game and most bonuses really did not seem to pay back much.

Features:

One entire reel, the one with the large zombie, is wild. It is present for every spin, changing the positions every now and then, and in theory that should help out a lot. But it does not seem to be the case. In the base game, with the help of the Wandering Zombie Wild, wins of 7 or 8 times the bet are quite common, but rarely something significant. Also, that reel lowers the odds of starting the bonus as you need to collect at least three Scatters on different reels. Now, because one is entirely Wild, that means you need Scatters on 3 out of 4 reels. It is not uncommon to wait for 3 or 400 spins to get a bonus. And then get two in a short time span. It is disappointing when those do not produce much like in this video.

Bonus:

However, you can do a decent strike in a bonus too as expected. Default is to start with 8 free spins, and each scatter collected unlocks one of the three locks on the additional reel. When the first additional reel is unlocked, another expanded zombie is added, and so on up to level 4 that has 8 reels in play. No need to say this is when it gets interesting as lining up combinations on 8 reels, out of which four are entirely wild, can add up for a great win on every spin. Something like in this video, although the total win ended at 183 times the bet. Overall, an interesting and innovative bonus that has the quality of building up excitement.  Free games can be retriggered indefinitely with more Scatters.

Verdict:

Overall, Wild Walker is a good slot with some innovative features in the base game and bonus as well. Certainly, it will resonate well with the fans of the zombie genre. However, it remains to be seen if it fully takes off with everybody else as there are some segments that are not very balanced.
