Here is what happens when classic meets the currently the most popular game mechanics – Megaways. Game is a result of NetEnt buying out the Red Tiger studio which was a very productive independent studio that already acquired Megaways licence. Anyway, Gonzo is still here overlooking the playfield. However, playfield has changed to using 6 reels now that each can hold from 2 to 7 symbols which can result in 64 to 117,649 ways to win. There was a reason whz the original became classic, game was fast, interesting and fun to play. All that is still there, and on top of that we now have some interesting features that make the game even better. RTP is set by default at 96%, while the top award is 21,000 times the bet. 

Features:

Avalanches are still here, basically any symbol that makes the winning combination will then disappear leaving space for new ones to fall on top. For each next drop, multiplier increases up to the maximum of 5x for a single drop, then resets for next “spin”. Earthquake feature comes at random and when it does, it clears away all low paying symbols. Wilds are the symbols with question marks. Maximum of two can appear for a given spin, one on first 3 reels and one for the other 3. Wilds do not disappear, but remain in position until avalanches keep going. To start a bonus in form of free spins (drops), you need to collect at least three Free Fall symbols, and Wilds can be part of that.    

Bonus:

Default number of free spins is 9, but each additional Free Fall symbols adds 3 more spins to that. Game stays the same in the bonus round, but Avalanche multipliers are increased to 3,6,9 and 15 times the win. So, you would be hoping to connect a nice combination towards the end of Avalanche when the multiplier is at the highest. Getting more Free Fall Scatters does add to the free spins number, and that can help a lot just like in this video. 

Verdict:

Sequel to Gonzo’s Quest did not disappoint. All the strong points that made the original delight to play when it came out are still here. However, enough changes were done to make it truly Megaways title.

It might not be the most amazing game published lately, but overall, a very good game that can keep you entertained.
