Regular game:

CherryPop is a game published by Yggdrasil in collaboration with Avatar UX studio. It is a third game using Avatar’s  Pop mechanics and it is certainly interesting play system. It feels like some hybrid made of cascading reels, megaways and Starburst mechanics given that wins count from both sides of the screen. Add a bit of fruit graphics and we just might have a classic in the making. Default game is set on 5×3 playfield with decared RTP of 96,14% and top award potential of massive 56,386 times the bet. Overall, neon style dominates the theme and in combination to the sound, it really reminds me of the 80’s. Let’s say as close as it gets to to Atomic Blonde movie with Charlize Theron.

Features:

Just like the movie, game pace is fast and hectic. Pop mechanics essentially mean that any symbol that connects for a win then disappears and makes space for two new symbols on the next drop. That keeps going until you reach 6 rows in height and if all 5 reels reach that level, free spins bonus is awarded. Default is 5 free spins, but before you start you can choose to spin the wheel and gamble to increase the number of spins. You can win up to 16 spins or lose whatever you were awarded so far. I do recommend to go for a double at least once as higher number of spins really makes the difference and it is better to have one bonus with 10 spins than two with 5.

Bonus:

Bonus starts where the base game stopped, with 6 rows in play that can go up to maximum 9. What makes things spicy here is the added multiplier that starts with 2 and grows by 1 for each winning combination. Should the reels expand to maximum 9 rows, then multiplier grows by 4 and that is when things get interesting. Even what usually would have been minor wins, when multiplied with 20 or more times bring interesting sums every spin. That is why it pays to have as many as possible free spins, just to try to reach these spins with high multiplier. Something like in this video. Excellent bonus type!

You can also just skip the base game and buy the bonus for 75x the bet which is always a good option for inpatient ones.

Verdict:

CherryPop’s strong points are the simplicity and fast pace. At the same time game is really interesting and exciting. Couple that with high potential, smooth graphics and catchy sounds, and I think we might have a winner here. I have a feeling this will become one of the most popular games of 2020.
