Who would have thought Play’n’Go would do another Egypt themed game? Book of Dead has been such a success that there are now quite a few follow-ups on the theme. Legacy of Dead is one of them and we can call it Book of Dead with a twist.
However, the bonus round is fun to play which makes for a good game even if it only has 10 lines. As always with this series, graphics and music are good and set up the atmosphere that create Egyptian mystique.
Features:
Well, gameplay is the usual, 5×3 grid with 5 special symbols and 5 regular ones from 10 to A. No stacked symbols. To start the bonus, you need to collect the usual combo of at least 3 Scatters on the screen.
To start the bonus, a book will spin and show which symbol will have the expanding option. As in the Book of Dead, it will expand to the entire reel, giving the possibility of getting a full screen of symbols.
Bonus:
Here comes the upgrade. Should you retrigger another 8 free spins (you start with 8) by landing another 3 Scatters, another symbol is added to the expanding feature list. You just doubled your chances to win big by having two active symbols instead of one. And this can keep happening all the way up to adding all nine symbols for massive wins!

Verdict:
Although they say that original is always better than the sequel, I’ve enjoyed Legacy of Dead more than Book of Dead. Kind of like Empire Strikes Back. Yes, A New Hope was the movie that started all Star Wars frenzy, but the sequel was a better movie. I feel the same with Legacy of Dead. By improving the bonus, Play’n’Go has added to the excitement with collecting different symbols and making the bonus more interesting.
