Completely unexpected, here is another Book of Dead clone from Play’n’Go. We’ve seen Book and Legacy of Dead, here is the Dawn of Egypt, so I guess Legacy of Egypt would be next. Oh, that exists already? Then Book of Egypt?
Anyways, 5×3 grid with 10 paylines as usual. Low paying symbols go from J to A, which means 10s were left out. But, there is now one more picture symbol, so more or less same thing like the predecessors. Graphics and sounds are great as usual.
Features:
As expected, there is not much excitement from the regular play, however you can still line up some decent wins like in the video.
Three blue Pyramids serve their usual business as scatters and wilds. When you collect 3 of them, free spins bonus round starts. Also, if you collect 5 of them, the top award of 1,000 times the bet is yours.
Bonus round is where Dawn of Egypt differs to the previous Egyptian themes the most.
Bonus:
To start with, there is a Wheel of the Gods that spins and determines how many free spins you get, from 3 to 20. After having that formality done, free spins start. At the start of each spin, randomly, one of the higher value symbols becomes dominant and all of the lower value become that one. So, the higher the symbol, more chances to collect. Unfortunately, you still get to keep all of the Jack to Aces symbols, so those do stand in the way of making nice combinations. Additional feature is that you now need to collect at least two of the red Pyramids to go into Pyramid spins. Each symbols reveals how many of those you get. Pyramid spins can be re triggered indefinitely and you get to keep the same dominant symbol that was active in the free spin. Once Pyramid symbols are over, you return to regular free spins and so on. You can keep going for a long time, but still not win much like in this video.
Verdict:
I have a feeling that the intention of Dawn of Egypt was to increase the frequency of winning free spins. They do come quite often, but also they did not seem to pay much and did not have some exciting or collecting quality to keep me interested for a long time. So, I would guess that “Book of …” series fans will have a go at this game, but will return to their previous favorites.
You can still line up a nice win in the bonus, like Knossi did here with top symbols.
